This past weekend my most oldest son turned fourteen. We had an awesome packed week with family and friends because everyone loves this kid LOTS! I mean we planned his birthday at the beach and all 30+ people came out and stayed the whole day...in the rain! But despite the rain everyone had fun. So this page is all for him.
The picture is actually from the day of his party...before the rain came. I wanted to document the last day of him being thirteen and this picture pretty much sums it up. My hip, sweet, funny big kid.
When thinking of how I could capture his essence in this page I immediately thought of the beach. This kid loves the beach. He started out surfing and now has gotten into wave photography. Not to be the proud mama tooting his horn, but he's pictures are awesome. Really they are.
Alright back on track. So my thought was to make the background like a sunset. I used Gelatos to create a watercolored background inspired by our beach sunsets.
For the journaling I left it up to him. I simply asked him to write a few words about his past year and what he would like for the next. OMGosh I LOVED what he wrote. If you know me, you know I hardly journal on my LOs, so I don't expect much when I asking someone else (especially my teenage son) to do it. But he wrote from the heart. He was open and honest and I loved it.
