An Easter without bunnies is just not a hoppin' holiday. So since I don't live on a farm I have to make do with what I got. And what I got are kids and a DIY attitude!
"Love my little bunny!"
You can make one fast and easy too.
Supplies
Felt, 3 feet of Ribbon (May Arts 1.5 inch Silky Crush in white), 20 gage Wire, Strong Glue, Scissors, and a sewing machine.
Step 1
Trace out bunny ears on felt.
I made a template by just sketching the shape on scrap paper and cutting it out. This will make sure both ears are the same. You will need two big ear shapes and two smaller ones.
Step 2
Assemble the ears.
For this step you are going to cut your wire to just under double the inner ear felt piece. Note that I'm talking about the brown piece for mines. You will then bend your wire in half and join the two ends together. Lay the wire on the big felt ear and glue down the smaller felt ear to enclose the wire.
Sewing around the inner ear is optional. I like a nice white zigzag stitch to add a little handmade touch.
Step 3
Sew it all on the ribbon.
Now it's time to put it all together. To start you need to cut a piece of felt 12 inches and to the width of your ribbon. I am using a 1 1/2 inch ribbon so my felt rectangle is 1 1/2 inch x 12 inches. Adding this rectangle felt will add stability to your band and a place to sew on the ears. Pin all the pieces together on your ribbon and get ready to sew.
To adhere all the parts together I just zigzag stitched down the center of the rectangle felt piece. Make sure to sew on the ears just under where the wire would be. Then added two regular stitching down the two edges of the rectangle.
Okay now I am no seamstress so all you professionals out there don't shudder at my next photo. Note that felt does have "pull" to it and will distort when stretched.
All you have to do now is put it on and tie a bow in the back. Don't forget to play with the ears to get a nice look. That's it! And look, you got a bunny for Easter!
Alright now who's ready to HOP along for more Easter inspiration?
