May Arts Ribbonista Blog Hop

HI Hoppers.  So who is already on their way though the ribbonista blog hop?
If so you should have come my way from the awesome Karen Baker.
If you just happened on my blog today hop on over to the May Arts ribbon blog.  The girls are doing a week long hop to inspire you with a lot of amazing ribbon Valentines goodness.
Don't forget to comment along the way also.  You could win 4 spools of your choice.

Today I have something for all you fasionistas/ribbonistas out there.
This DIY heart rope knot necklace

How to tie a heart into rope
(I colored one side of the rope just for the tutorial)
Make a standard knot into the rope with the overlap on the bottom.  Make sure to work on a surface keeping the knot flat and keeping your knots really loose.

Now you are going to take the right end and weave it under and over the knot going downwards.

Next, using the same end weave the end upwards going under, over, under, over.

The last step is to gently tighten the knot by pulling the two loose ends.  Working your rope to shape the knot into a heart as you pull.
For the necklace I followed the instructions above but with two string to give it more volume.  Then tied a regular knot in the back to make it a necklace.
Isn't that chic looking?
I think this May Arts 2mm cording is just perfect for this look.  LOVE that it is gold and it's wired which makes it easy to work with.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  And that you make your own chic knot necklace one day.
Now go get your hop on!  Your next stop today is the fabulous DeeDee Catron.
