Flower Pinwheel

Last December I picked up a Creating Keepsake Magazine and fell totally in LOVE with Heather Bailey’s paper flower pinwheels. It’s one of those finds that when you see it you have to try it.

So here’s my take

Pattern Paper: K&Company “Berry Sweet”
Glitter Paper: DCWV
Cricut: Tags Bags Boxes & More “popcorn box”, Walk in my Garden “flowers”,Paper Pups “heart love”,
Felt boarder: Queen&Co.
Eyelets & glitter brads: Doodle bug
Ribbon: American Crafts
Paint
18” of a 3/8“wooden dowel
1/2“wooden bead
12” piece of 18-gauge wire
Heather’s paper template & instructions: Click here

The instructions are really easy to fallow. It takes sometime to cut out the paper but the pinwheel works awesomely.
I made this one for someone I love that was really sick. It makes me smile and I’d hope it would brighten his day.

I wanted to make it look like a planted flower. I needed a weight on the bottom of the box so the flower wouldn’t tip over. I used rocks because that’s what I had laying around, literally. Then put green flouriest foam on top the rocks (is that what it’s called?). The fake grass is scrap pieces of paper that I cut with decorative scissors and curled around a pencil. That took a lot of time too. The rocks and the flower dowel are held in there with hot glue gun.
