Don't you wish you could live like this?
Here is where I drew my inspiration...

MLYB Baby gift set

 Happy Aloha Friday!
This past month I've been crafting up a storm and I got the mess to prove it!  My desk filled with "going to finish" projects and paper cuttings under my chair.
Anyhoo...
here's one of those projects all finished...YEAH!

It's a new baby gift set brought to you by "My Little Yellow Bicycle"
I was going for that gender bias / unisex look since waiting to find out your babies gender is so popular now. Mixing the "Baby Saurus" & "Tiny Princess" lines from My Little Yellow Bicycle added just the right amount of pinks and blues to achieve that look, don't you think...

 Here's a look at the
Layout
(Since it's a gift I put it in a 12x12 frame...just didn't think how the glass would reflect in the photo...note to self "take glass out when photographing" oops)

 The card

The Baby book
I thought it would be a great keepsake to document the day baby was born.
"5 things about the day you were born"
On each page There is a prompt and a little envelop with a place to write.  Also places for photos and pockets with closers for keepsakes

1. "In Labor"

2. "Going to the hospital"

3. "Finally in our arms"

 4. "These are the things we already love about you"

5. "First family photo"

How to make your own mini paper lantern

As promise, here is a mini tutorial on how to make those cute pint-size lanterns.
They’re super easy and fast to make.  Believe me there is no special skills involved.
Here we go…

 First gather your supplies.
  • Extra paper for wooden spool
Paint if you wish to paint your skewer and spool

Take you strips of paper and glue them together in the middle.  Like so...
It should end up looking like this...

Now take your paper piercer and poke a hole in the middle of all the strips.  Make sure your skewer will fit by going through the same hole with the skewer...

Now start gluing your strips in a circle.  I like to make the cross sections first...
You should end up with a ball like this...

Now add your skewer  into the hole.  The tip of the skewer should touch the top of the ball BUT don't poke to hard.  We don't want a hole in the top...
Now is the time to embellish your lantern.  I like to add paper to the base, just for looks.  You can paint your skewer and spool at this time.

Decorate your spool.  Pattern paper does the trick for me...

Now with scraps your going to tightly wrap your base.  Then shove it in the hole in the spool.  I like a tight fit...the paper piercer will help with this...
Here's a look at the skewer and paper "shoved" in to the spool.

And there you have it...a cute mini paper lantern.
If you make some please share a link in the comments.  I would love to see!

Girl's day doll display

Hay all you night owls out there!
It’s a late night post from me seeing as its almost midnight here in Hawaii.  I know I should be in bed but I had to get this post in.
So do you all remember my girl’s day favors? (you can see um HERE if you missed it).  Well I had some extra “My LittleShoebox” Aiko line papers, because any paper crafter knows when you buy pattern paper you have to buy in doubles right!  Anyhoo I had to make this with the rest of it…
 Hina Matsuri (doll’s festival)
or “Girl’s Day”
Find out more about "Girl's day" HERE

3D Roll up Flowers Die Cuts with added bling

What is it you ask?  Well it’s a homemade “girl’s day” doll display.
As of today I can’t afford to get my little princess a full Japanese court so I decided to make her a super cute place to display her “girl’s day” doll collection.
So take a look inside…

And here’s what it looks like filled with some dolls
(NOTE: Hawaii is a melting pot so along with the emperor and empress are her and mines animal zodiac signs.  Me being the bore and her being the roster.)

See the mini paper lanterns?  Wana make one? Well stay tune…tutorial to fallow

random ramblings

So I've been taking a look at my blog and notice two thing...

1. Have you ever checked your stats (funny inappropriate warning to follow)?
If your a long time follower of mines you'll notice that I changed my blog name at the beginning of the year.  Why you may ask?  Well it turns out that "MissBliss" was attracting the wrong kind of blog attention, if you know what I'm saying.  So one day when I was checking my traffic feeds I was in SHOCK at the sites referring people to my "craft" blog.   All I can say is I bet those people were very disappointed when they clicked on the link and found a bunch of cards...LOL...it's kinda funny but totally gross!!!

2. WOW I blog about challenges a lot and make a lot of cards.
I make a bunch of stuff that isn't connected to a challenge but find myself not posting it.  And it seams like lately all my post are cards.  So this year my little blog is going to be filled with a lot more crafty inspiration and I hope your all along for the ride.  Not only cards and challenges.

And just one more thought...
a BIG thank you to all my followers and commenter.  You don't know how much your nice comments put a BIG smile on my face :)  You keep me blogging and creating.  You gals ROCK!!!
