First Christmas card of 2011

YUP! I can believe it myself but Christmas is creeping up on us and soon it will be at our door steps with gifts galore and decorations a plenty.
So when I saw this weeks Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger I was instantly inspired by the totally fab-y-ness of the delightfully random photo. And thought it was the perfect inspiration needed to kick start my holiday cards.

Paper Punch: Martha Steward, Embossing folder: Cuttlebug, Paint: Delta "Tahiti Blue", Sticker: SRM, Paper flower: Prima, Pin: Making memories, Floss: Janlynn

When I first saw the photo I knew I had to have a gingham flower, and thanks to my local fabric mart I had the perfect embellishment. The next thing that caught my eyes was the scuffed up painted background (so vintage chick) so I had to replicate it. I used kraft cardstock at first but found it fell apart after I painted then sanded it. So I used a piece of chipboard instead and it worked perfect!

Two for Paper Smooches

It's Thursday! One more day to Friday and two more days till the weekend.
YEAH! and speaking of twos I've got two cards to share this Thursday.
They're both for Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge.
Check it...

Got my stamps in the mail Tuesday and I couldn't wait to peel back the acrylic and get inking. The camera and heart are from "Perpetual Bliss" and the saying from "Pretty Phrases". This card is totally inspired by the set up in the inspiration photo. Love the colors from the pink to the green to the teal...LOVE!

This bee is just a cutie! When I first saw the inspiration photo the first thing I saw was those pink ruffles. uhhh LOVE! Then I immediately thought of this little bee. So I gave her a wee makeover with a ruffle skirt to add to her black stripes. Now she's FAB!

Here's the Photo...Can't you just think of a jillion things to do with this one.

A Scrappy Scrap box

When I saw this weeks challenge on LESSology I was ear to ear grinning.
So what's the challenge that got me giddy?
Challenge #2 The Trinket Box Challenge
And then I got ten times as Happy when I saw that Paper Issues were having a "Tree Hugger" challenge...I LOVE TREES :)
Now you might be asking yourself why this makes me so happy and simply put I'm a hoarder. Not so much call Extreme Hoarders but I'm an admitted junk collector. So any challenge that can help reduce my stash I welcome.

Punch: Martha Steward & EK Success, Chip board: Making Memories, RubOns: Pink Paislee, Fabric flowers: Hand Made

Here's my box before...It was from a fragrance diffuser I got at COSTCO (love that place). I would saw it was sitting in my closet a good one and a half years.

Can you see why I just couldn't throw this out!
Don't you just love that it's clear!
I thought this project totally called for a Houndstooth pattern and I just so happens to have some in my scraps (yah yeah) so used it for the flower and the handle. The screen printed frame was a swap meat find and I used the trimmings from that to make the flower on top.

Not one to toot toot my own horn but I'm in love with the way this turned out. This box is the perfect size for a nice bottle of wine (red preferably) but don't know if I can part with it. Hay It's also perfect for my fabric scraps, Yeah!

It's a Hero Arts parade!

I LOVE PARADES!!!
You know what else I love? Hero Arts...Oh Yah!
I've been playing around with a couple of challenges and my Hero Arts stamps.

First a little window card...
Paper: ColorBok, Stamps: Hero Arts "Birds & Butterflies" and "All Occation Messages", Ink: Color Box "fresh green" and "dark moss"

<<< Window cards are AWESOME and this one is for one of the challenges over at Hero Arts.
It's a window card challenge.

Next Up ...
Stamps: Hero Arts "Large Flower Patterns" and "Cuckoo", Ink: VersaMagic "Wheat", "Red Brick" and "Spanish Olive", VersaColor "Narcissus", Edge Punch: Martha Steward, Gems: Kaiser

<<< This is my first time playing at
Card Patterns
and what a great sketch to get creative with this week. I liked the way the background came out but OH BOY is my arm tired (used ink pads and a dabber) does anyone know of an "ouchless" way to do this?

Last up...
Stamps: Hero Arts "Classic Fabric Design", Birds & Butterflies", and "All Occasion Messages", Ink: Stampin' Pad "Only Orange", Yoyo Yellow", and "Pink Passion", ColorBox "peony", Memento "Tuxedo Black"

This is also my first
Lily Pad cards challenge
I had to join in because it's a Hero Arts prize...YEAH! and the sketch gave me an awesome idea "Banners" I've been so into banners lately, and what's a parade with out one!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

"Friends" with paint

I'm playing around with paint again!!!
But this time I had the perfect excuse to get my scrap desk all splatted.
It's Embellish Magazine's
Paint or Mist Color Trends Challenge

Stamps: Hero Arts, Ink: VersaColor "Seafoam", Gray Paper: Coredinations, Banner: WeRMemoryKeepers, PomPoms Ribbon: Hallmark, Paint: Delta Ceramcoat "Pearl Finish" & Plaid "Raw Sienna

I'm just thrilled with how the saying came out.
I used the pearl finish paint on my stamp and the shine is just divine.
Note: make sure you wash the paint off your stamp as soon as possible, I used soap and water with a micro fiber towel to get into the little creases.
(this is probably not recommended for stamps, but what use is having things if not to use them how we want:)

<<< Don't you just love this Photo???
The colors combo is AWESOME!!! and this photo just gave me that grungy inspiration I needed for my card.

Little side note:
<<< This is how my morning card shots went...
Tried to get some shots in before my little beannie destroyed my cards.
All is well, No cards were actually destroyed in this photo shot (just knocked down) ... heeheehee

Card banner "Happy Birthday"

It's a Moxie kinda Monday and I'm "All In"
I'm playing with the "Card Play Challenge in the Moxie Fab World"

At first I was really stumped with this "card" challenge. I just couldn't come up with an idea that I liked. And then I thought "BANNERS"!!! Yeah who doesn't like banners??? And since I could only wrestle away two playing cards from my boys, this card came out perfectly clean and simple...

"Thanks" stripes color combo card

I'm feeling clean and peaceful today and made a clean and peaceful card to match my mood :)

Stamp: Hero Arts, Ink: Memento "tuxedo black" & Color Box "sky blue", Brown ribbon: Offray

Found a blog full of inspiration. It's Embellish Magazine and there challenge this week is stripes. I took my stripes a little different - as in not that noticeable. My card doesn't scream stripes but then like I said I'm doing it peaceful today :)

"You Rock" school card

So what's fall???
It's that time of year where everyone is having fall themed projects and challenges and to tell you the truth Hawaii only has only two seasons. So with that being said of course I know what fall looks like but it would be forced if I tried sooooo fall themed for me is "back to school"
Stamps: Hero Arts "just a note", Pattern paper: Hambly screen prints,Basic gray, RubOns: Kaiser Craft, Font:"KG Keep Your Head Up"

This is my first time playing at CAS-ual Fridays (been an on looker for sometime). Love the thought of more clean and simple cards out there!!! I Love the name of this weeks challenge "Falling to pieces" a paper pieced-fall themed card. Like I was ranting before back to school is what fall means to me and these cute stamps from Hero Arts fit perfect.

Blue poppy thank-you card

It's a
Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger
and this week it's Garden glory... check it ...

Stamps: Hero arts, Ink: Stampin' Pad "tempting turquoise" & "Brilliant blue", Color Box "Dark moss"

<<< Here's the image, isn't it just fab.
I was immediately drawn to the pillow in this image and tried to have my card have the same soft fabricy effect. Hence the hand stitching and textured cardstock.
Wanted to blend the colors like that in the pillow so I used an ink dabber. Something I had brought it awhile back but never used (story of my life).
Anyways we got another week to play with this one so get crafting.

"This chick can drive" layout

It's a nice sunny (and hot) day in Hawaii and if you're in need of a little sunshine then I've got it for you. In the form of an LO that is...

Here's my little chickadee in her first ride.
All the pattern paper are from my scrap stash "YEAH ME".
I really wanted to have some yellow mist on this page but poor me, I had none. So whats a girl to do? Use paint and a toothbrush of course ... way messier then spray but looks just as good.

This one is for Get Picky August Inspiration Challenge. It's a sunny yellow daffodil challenge. It's also based on this weeks Sketchy Thursdays sketch.

My qoute "smash book"

Everyone is in LOVE with smash books (me included), but every time I see one in the store I’m like “I can make that!!!” Of course I say that all the time and never follow through BUT today is the exception. So here is the start of my smash book of quotes. I love quotes and am always looking to them to add that extra something to my layouts, or for a great card.

Cover

Being one not to waste, the paper flowers were made from the pages inside the book.

Prima: Pattern Paper, stamp, flower, and chipboard; Pink paislee: tag; Ek Success:paper punch

Inside

I wanted it to still look like it was a book so I just painted over the words…I like how you can still see some of it in the background.

Prima: paper bird, Smooch Spritz: mist, Stampin'up: tap punch

Pullout page
Now I have to say this book would have probably never have come to be if not for the extra motivation from LESSology (challenge #1: The altered book challenge). Ok here is my WARNING the book I altered is really really gross…..

Nasty right, It was my oldest sons readind pick, but it turned out looking pretty in the end!!! This is also for Scrapbookers Anonymous birthday mini challenge “journal only” … stop by and help them celebrate their birthday.
